You're going to have to do connections if you want to fly commercially as close as possible to minimize driving time.

Starting from Schroon Lake Airport:

Now look for alternate airports:

So now it looks like SLK and RUT are the two closest commercial airports. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you'll see that each of these airports connects through BOS. It looks like Cape Air can get you there pretty cheap from Boston.

Now you just need to get to Boston. If you're near Austin, an example might be on JetBlue from AUS to BOS:
