Last March 2012 I bought a fly ticket for my daughter who is 14 years old, through the travel agency located in Venezuela with the following data: June 30 Caracas 2012-Paris-Nice / Return: 28 July 2012 Paris-Nice-Caracas. At that time I asked the agency for the information of the Juvenile Escort Service, but the Agency responded that the service was "optional", and if required at the airport I could pay for it upon departure. However, to confirm prices and ordering information, today (Monday, June 11) I called Airfrance for information about the escort service for children. To my surprise I was told from Airfrance that for kids less than 14 years old it is required to pay the service and it should have been paid when buying the ticket, which was not charged by the agency and does not appear in the ticket. I immediately called the travel agency, who informed me that they didn't know this information when they sold me the ticket, because this rule for escort service for children under 14 years is current from April 01, 2012, and they sold me this ticket in March, when the travel agency had not handled that information, and now we must pay for the escort service to minors, in addition to the new issue of the air ticket, plus a penalty. I understand and agree that I have to pay the escort service, but it seems unfair to pay for the remission of the ticket plus a penalty for a mistake that is not mine. Now I would like Airfrance to help me understand what really happened. Who has the fault for this mess? And whom should I complain?
