Doubles in Price for only a short distance more

If you plug in Seattle to San Diego it says you can get there for approx $200 round trip. If plug in Vancouver BC to San Diego it says over $400 for a round trip. Yet you could EASILY get from Vancouver to Seattle and back on one tank of gas. How do most accuratly estimate the cost of my trip?
