HWA has confirmed that Giuliano Alesi will join the team for the 2020 Formula 2 season alongside Artem Markelov, who was confirmed earlier this week.

Alesi debuted in the FIA F2 series this year with Trident, scoring a best result of seventh at Monza earlier this year.

Alesi makes the move to HWA for 2020, who will take over Arden's entry at the end of the year. Alesi becomes the fifth Ferrari Drivers' Acamdeny racer to be confirmed on the 2020 F2 grid.

"I would like to thank HWA AG for the magnificent reception and for the faith they are putting in me," Alesi said. "I am overjoyed to be part of this impressive company.

"All the employees are already highly motivated and I am looking forward to working with a great team - that is the most important thing for me. I cannot describe how I feel at the moment - I am over the moon."

HWA AG CEO, Ulrich Fritz added: "We are delighted to have acquired Giuliano. The relationship between Alesi and HWA was a successful one in the DTM. It is nice to see a continuation of that relationship in Formula 2.

“There is no doubting Giuliano's enormous talent - it is not without good reason that he is part of the Ferrari Driver Academy. He fits almost perfectly into our approach, which is to support young drivers on their route to Formula 1."

Hah he is a more handsome version of his father. I wish he was so quick enough to join F1.
I loved Jean since French Grand Prix 1989 when his debut was incredible but not that much as his 1st race of 1990 at Phoenix when Pirellis tyres helped him to rock the show.
He choose Ferrari not Williams for 1991 and... that was the end of his dream of being champions.

If you have not see this, you need to watch asap - Jean's interview
